Game Recap

In a classic game of David and Goliath, what came out of this tournament match was some of the best sportsmanship around.

The first half showed us goals from Sophomore Simone Rivard-Roberts with two, Freshman Addie Vaccari with two, Sophomore Emma Barthel, Freshman MacKenzie Duff, Freshman Catherine Zugaro and Freshman Amanda Bailey all with one.

The second half ended with a lone goal from Senior Gabby Burris.

Although the game was one sided, Briggs never gave up and kept having fun. The Briggs goalkeeper Kaitlyn Moroney even had a big save on a Coffman PK. Briggs did come close with a huge free kick from Goalkeeper Kaitlyn Moroney only to have Sophomore Goalkeeper Lara Schober come up with an amazing save.

After the game there was no single line handshake, no “good game, good game”….both teams jumped into a huddle and celebrated an amazing game with incredible Sportsmanship.

Soccer brings kids together. Briggs could have made excuses as to why they lost or say they didn’t really care, instead, they made the bus trip to Coffman to play a game they all love and to have fun. They celebrated Coffman’s win. They wished Coffman luck in the tournament. They knew this would be their last game and instead of beating themselves up for not winning, they finished up their season by enjoying it.

Senior Goalkeeper Izzie Vaccari with 0 saves.
Sophomore Goalkeeper Ally Machulski with 0 saves.
Sophomore Goalkeeper Kendra Siefker with 0 saves.
Sophomore Goalkeeper Lara Schober with 1 save.

Briggs Goalkeeper Kaitlyn Moroney with 8 saves.

Coffman had 23 shots. 17 on goal.

Dublin Coffman now moves on to the District Semi-Final on Tuesday, October 24th, 7pm against Olentangy Orange at Coffman Stadium.
