Dublin Coffman Shamrocks Varsity struggled to get their offense going on Thursday, getting easily dispatched by Bishop Watterson, 7-1.
Dublin Coffman Shamrocks Varsity opened up scoring in the first inning. Phillip Perez hit into a fielder’s choice, scoring one run.
Bishop Watterson evened things up at one in the bottom of the first inning when Adam Fallon tripled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.
Bishop Watterson pulled away for good with four runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Morgan Horvath hit a solo homer, Noah Grayem doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs, and Luke Delbert singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
Stephen Garrett led the Bishop Watterson to victory on the pitcher’s mound. He went six innings, allowing one run on five hits, striking out six and walking zero. Mason Graney threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Ben Hall took the loss for Dublin Coffman Shamrocks Varsity. He lasted five innings, allowing seven hits and six runs while striking out four and walking one.
Matt Dorenkott led Dublin Coffman Shamrocks Varsity with two hits in three at bats.
Bishop Watterson totaled nine hits in the game. Grayem, Fallon, and Drake McAninch all managed multiple hits for Bishop Watterson. Bishop Watterson was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Horvath made the most plays with seven.
