Dublin Coffman took home a 4-2 victory over Westerville North on Saturday.
Westerville North fired up the offense in the first inning, when Newtz’s sac fly scored one run for Westerville North.
After Dublin Coffman scored one run in the top of the fourth, Westerville North answered with one of their own. Dublin Coffman scored when Zach Rust grounded out, scoring one run. Westerville North then answered when Hunter grounded out, scoring one run.
Dublin Coffman pulled away for good with two runs in the third inning. In the third Michael Meyer tripled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run and Kyle Ulring’s sac fly scored one run for Dublin Coffman.
Senior, Hunter Hicks led the Dublin Coffman Rocks Varsity to victory on the hill. The righthander allowed five hits and two runs over five innings, striking out three and walking one. Freshman, Kyle Warnsmen threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. Warnsmen recorded the last six outs to earn the save for Dublin Coffman .
Newtz took the loss for Westerville North. The bulldog lasted six innings, allowing seven hits and four runs while striking out five.
Dublin Coffman racked up nine hits. Hicks and Rust all managed multiple hits. Rust and Hicks each collected two hits to lead Dublin Coffman. Dublin Coffman Rocks Varsity didn’t commit a single error in the field. Alex Diehl had the most chances in the field with four.
